About Us

Meet our Periodontists

We have two periodontists in our group, Dr Bazrafshan, principal periodontist, and Dr Yu, both of whom are highly trained in periodontics and dental implants. We will listen to your concerns, diagnose and advise you of the best procedures, providing you with a comprehensive plan outlining treatment requirements, timeframe, cost and ongoing maintenance and support.

We use only the best practices and equipment to deliver state of the art therapies. Professional development and collaborative work ethics ensure you receive the latest technology and techniques, alongside individual care and customised treatment.

We are strongly supported by our team of dental nurses and receptionists. We have available a visiting Prosthodontist, Dr Kunal Panda, should there be a need for additional prosthodontic services.

We strive to build long-term relationships with our patients so that your oral health is managed and maintained along with the rest of your health. Your satisfaction and trust is vital so we aim to put a smile on your face every time you leave our clinic.

Dr. Nima Bazrafshan received his first degree in dentistry in 2002. During his 6 years working as a dentist, Nima explored different fields of dentistry and found periodontics a challenging and attractive area. He received an offer for the prestigious periodontics specialist training program at the University of Melbourne in 2008 and successfully completed the D.C.D course in 2011.

Since then he has been working in private practice while maintaining his teaching role as a clinical tutor for undergraduate dental and hygiene students at the University of Melbourne and Latrobe University.

Dr Bazrafhsan has attended more than 25 international conferences and master classes in Australia, Europe, USA and Canada to learn about new developments and the latest best practices in periodontics and implant surgery.

Dr. Bazrafshan offers referral based periodontal treatments which include: non-surgical treatments, surgical treatments, periodontal plastic surgeries, guided tissue and bone regeneration, ortho-perio treatments (un-erupted tooth exposure, frenectomy), perio- restorative treatments (functional and aesthetic crown lengthening) and also all surgical aspects of dental implants.

Outside of dentistry Nima spends time with his wife and son and is a keen soccer fan.

Dr Elizabeth Yu obtained her BDSc (Honours) at the University of Melbourne and was immediately drawn to the field of periodontics. While working as a dentist in Queensland, she gained experience in all aspects of dentistry, building a passion for providing high quality care to her patients.

In 2016 Elizabeth moved back to Melbourne to commence specialist training at the University of Melbourne. She successfully completed her clinical training in periodontics and implant dentistry, with her research thesis on the interaction between periodontal disease and medical/systemic conditions. She provides a range of grafting procedures, regenerative therapies, mucogingival surgery, pre-prosthetic surgery, orthodontist-perio treatment as well as surgical and non surgical periodontal treatment.

To further her knowledge and skills, Elizabeth is actively involved in professional development and continues to mentor dental students as a clinical supervisor at the University of Melbourne.

Outside dentistry Elizabeth enjoys hiking and reading books in English and Korean.
