Dr Janice Mouritz graduated as a dentist nearly 40 years ago. She practised general dentistry, pre-school dentistry, undergraduate teaching and dental research prior to specialising in periodontics. Graduating with a Master of Dental Science in 1993 she set up a private periodontal practice firstly in Carlton North and then Ivanhoe. At Ivanhoe Perio Janice’s philosophy is to provide high quality periodontal care and implant placement tailored to the individual needs and circumstances of her patients.
Janice has a special interest in the role of occlusion in periodontitis since the way that our teeth meet together influences the support for our teeth, determining appropriate treatments and interventions.
Continuing professional development is ensured through regular participation at periodontal and implant meetings.
Outside of dentistry Janice has four grownup children. Her hobbies include classical music, art, gardening, cooking and travel.
Dr. Nima Bazrafshan received his D.D.S degree in 2002. During his 6 years working as a dentist, Nima explored different fields of dentistry and found periodontics a challenging and an attractive area. Since then he has been working in private practice and also maintaining his teaching role as a clinical tutor for undergraduate dental and hygiene students at the University of Melbourne and the University of Latrobe.
Dr. Bazrafshan offers referral based periodontal treatments which include: non-surgical treatments, surgical treatments, periodontal plastic surgeries, guided tissue and bone regeneration, ortho-perio treatments (un-erupted tooth exposure, frenectomy), perio- restorative treatments (functional and aesthetic crown lengthening) and also all surgical aspects of dental implants.
Outside of dentistry Nima is a keen soccer fan.
